TRANSNATIONAL MEETING PROJECT IN ATHENS, GREECE

The second partner meeting was in Greece in May 2018.The aim was to evaluate the work during the project year, to develop new ideas, to disseminate the results, to work on the manual, to participate in joint activities.

The meeting started with a welcome event with songs and dances by the students in Vouliagmeni Primary School. Then there was an Introduction meeting and outcomes assessment after the first year of Erasmus+ SAVE (Students against Violence in Europe) project.

Students in the Greek school organized mini “Olympic Games”. The aim was to develop culture of Peace and sport values.

All participating teachers had a meeting about the dissemination of the project. There was a discussion about the web page, the blog, e-Twinning, Facebook and Google Drive. All teachers agreed to use TwinSpace in the eTwinning platform and to report all the activities and products related to the project.

All participants met human rights and refugee organisation from the partner country and had a workshop by UNHCR (Office of the United Nations High Commissioner) about the present situation of refugees in the world and the situation in Greece in order to learn more about the local problems and to look for opportunities to get involve and take action together. They showed us their educational project:  It could be me-it could be you.  

We had a meeting about the planning for the next year actions and expectations. There was organized a Peace Festival with the participation of every school group in the school. Traditional Greek food from different regions in the country was presented with cooking references. All partners could try and compare with the traditional food in their own countries.

The Greek school organized cultural visits to various places. All partners explored the mighty Acropolis on foot and saw the glorious Parthenon temple, a UNESCO World Heritage site, a fascinating chronicle of Athens’ history, serving as a treasury, fortress, mosque and a church over its 2500 years of existence. There was also a trip and visit at the ancient Temple of Poseidon, perched dramatically atop sea cliffs.

The Greek school organised for all participants in the transnational project meeting in Athens a visit at the Panathenaic Stadium, the venue of the first modern Olympic Games in 1896. There was a visit at the new Acropolis Museum and a visit at the parliament. All participating partners learned a lot of information about the Greek parliament and its history and took photos in the building.

The participants learned more about the culture and traditions of the partner country and developed intercultural competence. The meeting was very well organized and all activities were according to the agenda.
